ANSTO’s nuclear medicine processing and distribution facility assembles, loads, tests and distributes a range of nuclear medicine products, including Mo-99. The Mo-99 is dispensed into an ANSTO radiopharmaceutical Gentech® Generator where it decays to Tc-99m.

A dedicated team of radiation specialists from the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) are behind the successful detection and rapid retrieval of a missing radioactive source in outback Western Australia.
Plans to safely manage medical and research waste
ANSTO will make an application to the independent nuclear regulator, ARPANSA, to vary its license for its Interim Waste Store. The original operating license was approved in 2015, enabling the facility to hold what is called a TN-81 cask of intermediate-level radioactive waste that was safely repatriated from France in 2015.

Radiotherapy
The radiography program focuses on the development of Neutron Capture Enhanced Particle Therapy (NCEPT) from initial preclinical work, to clinical trials and finally commercial translation and licencing.
